The ERSA VERSAFLOW 3 selective soldering machine has become indispensable for ACE electronics in a short time. ACE Electronics, based in Diest, develops and produces electronics, including equipment construction, testing, total assemblies and complete logistical support such as packaging and shipping. Two years ago, Smans delivered and installed the first Ersa Versaflow 3 selective soldering machine. The quality of the soldering has been greatly improved and by avoiding manual labor, ACE now carries out the assignments cheaper and faster. This means that a lower price can be charged to the customer, which has led to a growth in the number of orders.
More PCBs with a mix of SMT and THT components
ACE electronics has seen a clear growth in the number of PCBs using both SMT and THT components. Until two years ago, the THT components, when applied in combination with SMT components on both sides, were soldered manually. Manual soldering is contrary to the ACE philosophy and therefore the purchase of a selective soldering machine was a logical choice. CEO Johan Lieten (ACE electronics): "We have to automate the manual operations as much as possible in order to stay competitive and thus make the difference in Belgium."
The maximum return from the ERSA VERSAFLOW 3
To get the maximum yield from the selective soldering machine, training and training was crucial. Smans has ensured that the operators can handle the Ersa Versaflow well. Meanwhile, two years later, the machine is already fully established. In addition, the engineers of ACE and the customers had to be trained. Selective soldering is only possible if the correct R & D rules are followed. If these rules are observed, this not only saves time and money, but the quality is also better. Johan Lieten: "The quality of the soldering improved, especially for PCBs with large masses and powerplanes. The finish of the soldering work is much purer, cleaner and residue-free. "He continues:" In addition, the reliability is also higher, we can count on no soldering being skipped. "
New assignments by VERSAFLOW 3
In the past two years the machine has been used more and more. On average, ACE electronics uses the machine for six to ten hours a day. This is partly due to the new orders that are possible with the new machine. Johan Lieten: "At the moment the machine is being used in two shifts for a large project. The chance to win such a large project increases because we have been able to make a sharper offer. This would not have happened without the Ersa Versaflow. "
Perfect support by SMANS
The investment in the ERSA VERSAFLOW 3 has led to a radical change at ACE electronics. Owner Johan Lieten: "We are very satisfied with the advice, the machine, the support and the maintenance. It has been a big and important investment for us. SMANS was and has proved to be a reliable partner in this process."
